Finding good food is not an ordeal
I don’t know too many people who don’t love their wholesome, hearty meals out. Dining out is great recreation for most, and people do it just about as often as they can afford it. But what if you have eaten way too often at the restaurants near you, and have gotten bored? You would love to try a new place, and you don’t mind if it is slightly more expensive than what you are used to, but you do want your money’s worth. Finding a great new restaurant can be tricky at times. You have to know a few basics, but ultimately it’s your instincts that will tell you whether the latest hot eatery in town is your thing or no.
You have to decide first how far you want to venture. It is a good idea to try restaurants in a part of the city distant from where you live. Chances are, the food will be seasoned somewhat differently and the flavors and textures will be new to your taste buds.
When you have selected a locality, you are ready to begin your restaurant search. The internet is full of information about restaurants and the kind of cuisines they specialize in and how much you are expected to shell out for a meal for two. Instead of eating the same pasta in your favorite sauce, try and experiment. Have sushi. Have shorwa. Have biryani. Have vindaloo. Have anything you have always wanted to try. Yes, there is a possibility it might turn out disastrous, but you might end up falling in love with it too. Don’t just rely on food columns and newspaper reviews of restaurants to decide if a place you want to go to is god or no. you should talk to people who have been there and actually had a meal. They should be able to give you more specific details.
If you are out at a new city and want to dine out, talk to the people at the hotel desk and ask their opinion. They should be able to recommend good restaurants. But it is wise to call and ask if they serve the kind of food you are in the mood for. Tell them if you have a food allergy. If you have your kids with you and they want a different kind of food than you do, enquire about that too. However, hotel officials may be under obligation to name certain restaurants. Do check with at least another person to see if they share the same positive thoughts on the restaurant.
Chances are you will find a KFC shop or a MacD in any American city. We don’t have to tell you anything about the food there. To play it safe, go to a burger joint where you can pick up fresh hamburgers, fried chicken, French fries, Coke and ice cream. You have to be extremely unlucky to be disappointed if you go to a place like this in just about any part of the world.
